Lack of interest Selected text becomes unselected when toggling BB code

Why are you selecting before you switch? Wouldn't it be just as easy to switch on BB Code and then select? It is not like the BB code button applies anything to the text selected. Or am I missing something here (I don't use the BB Code editor much myself)?
 
BB code editor provides much better control of the final text layout. But some changes to selected text are easier to apply with regular editor.

Just tried Froala editor demo and it keeps selected text when toggle Code View.
