A US Billionaire will buy it, all they'd have to do is recode it from the ground up so all the spyware-y stuff from China is gone, then re-launch it as Tiktok 2.0.

Which is probably what'll happen at the end of the day.

Musk already has intent to do so. Even announced it will be called X-Tok 🤣🤣🤣

Nope.

Tested on a couple VPNs myself (ExpressVPN & NordVPN) both did not work for TikTok mobile apps or browser.

I'm really surprised they care at all. I thought they would do nothing to stop us here in the US and leave it solely to American ISPs to block it. I been seeing some posts on Facebook too that some Canadians also can't use it. Guessing they are showing as a US Geo Location.

Lol at those of you trying to get into something that has been banned by the usa.
The bot bytedance has something to do with it.

If you’ve ever worked with “influencers” behind the scenes in marketing you would know that… well I’ll stop there.

They’re back.

Well that didn't last long at all. All the people I saw saying goodbye and like I'm back lol.
Which is why you should take a "I'll believe it when it happens" approach to most things in life, especially politics. It was technically banned for a time, but there are always last second legal challenges and other things that can come into play.

Of course, I see TikTok is pretending this was some kind of censorship issue, when the whole issue behind the ban never had a thing to do with the content. And still doesn't.

But there you go. Until these things are set in stone and you see it with your own eyes, don't believe the things you hear from political pundits. Or really anyone. Everyone has their own agenda and ideas.

Well that's awkward, especially for all the influencers who admitted to having faked their content just before the app went dark.
Granted, I don't feel too bad for people who get suckered in. Nothing you see online is real. Ruby Franke was a wonderful reminder of how those happy, shiny families are usually hiding dark secrets. Social media does not reflect reality. It didn't last year, it doesn't this year, and it won't next year. It reminds me of those shows where you'd see the houses of famous celebrities. Then you find out they were owned by the production company and the supposed celebrities didn't live in them. It was all to sell a fake lifestyle and image.

If people are taken in hook, line, and sinker by influencers, that's on them. You can't fix stupid, as they say. This is why I avoid social media for the most part. I have Facebook/Instagram accounts, but I never really use them. Never used TikTok once and have no plans to. It just doesn't appeal to me. My Facebook feed is just a bunch of right wing *******s complaining about every single thing on the planet, anyway. What a waste of time for me to get involved in.

When I first heard about this TikTok ban, I agreed with the underlying reasons why, but I kept thinking "I'll believe it when It happens." I guess it did... for 14 hours. Whether it stays banned or not, we'll find out. It's the current political football of the moment, but frankly I'd rather it be this then other issues that can lead to actual dangerous outcomes.
