Hello,
I was (briefly) using a forum hosted by XenoForo. The owner abruptly banned me for using a VPN, and flamed me on inquiry for "lying."
Here's the thing. I wasn't using a VPN and even signed up with my main, personal email. I browsed a few threads and downloaded a few things (from his forum of stolen content, to be frank.)
I also am well aware of what a VPN is and was not using one. This person is presumed to be computer literate since they decrypt private servers' files, albeit with a negative EQ, and just banned me for showing up in the built-in traffic monitoring as having used a VPN.
So, was my account possibly being compromised + spoofed or is that just how ISPs work sometimes? Also, are they violating any TAS by hosting such content?
Not super invested in revenge/ an answer so just posting to off-topic. (They were impossible to reason with from the very first message, for no foreseeable reason so.. would love for a sliver of justice in this).
