XF 2.2 School directory with filters - how would you build this?

Hi there,

I would like to create a school directory forum, where past teachers can share their experience of working at that school by adding a thread that has custom fields. There are about 3,500 schools that need to be listed.

Users will need a search bar to type in the name of the school that they want to find, and it would be ideal if the user could have filters that show, "All schools that provide free tuition for teacher's children" for example - which will be a custom thread field radio button.

I am new to building on XF. Will XF be able to handle all these forums? Is forums the right way to go for this? Is there a different approach you'd take?

Any information, suggestions, links, ideas, etc... would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If it's for a directory of information, I would use the Resource Manager, or one of the third party add-ons designed for that sort of content.
