XF 2.1 RSS feed confusion

Please excuse the very basic question, but I have had questions from members of my forum. Is there supposed to be an easy way for users to find the RSS feed URL. I know what the URLs are for the main feed and also for specific forums from searching here, but my question is how are regular forum members supposed to know?

If a user clicks on the RSS icon, they just get to download the xml file. Right click and all they see is index.rss, not the URL ie https://xenforo.com/community/forums/-/index.rss

Correct me if I'm wrong please, but didn't that RSS icon used to show the URL for the feed?

Most RSS readers will automatically figure out the feed URL from the source URL, since it's included via a <link> element in the source. For example, I can simply put https://xenforo.com/community/ into my reader and it will automatically pick up on https://xenforo.com/community/forums/-/index.rss

I'm not sure directly linking to feeds has much value these days (other than to indicate a feed is available I guess), seeing as they aren't supported natively in browsers (which is why you'll get a download prompt).

I'm guessing you're talking about an RSS icon on your browser (Safari?)? Apple News is probably the default app for handling RSS feeds on iOS.

Oh, I see now. It looks like my ad blocker removes that icon. It's just a standard link so you can get the complete URL by right clicking and copying the address.

It will open in whatever app you have available for opening RSS links, or, failing that, prompt you to download the feed.

If I right click I don’t get the full url, just index.rss
