XF 1.4 RM Phrases overwritten?

I've been running the Resource Manager as an article manager and had spent a considerable amount of time customising the phrases on the site to show "article" rather than "resource". However, today I noticed that all of these phrases had since reverted to default since upgrading to XF 1.4 and the latest RM.

Does upgrading overwrite these phrases, as I didn't think that this was the case? How can I get around this so that any changes I make will stick?

Did you edit the master phrases?

Any phrases in the default or a custom style won't be overwritten when upgrading.

I'm not sure Brogan, I simply clicked Appearances > Languages & Phrases > Phrases, then changed the "phrase text" to whatever I wished. Is this the master phrase?

Thanks Allan, that's what I've used since the overwrite to re-populate it.
