XF 2.1 REST API or XEN SDK use for External Auth

Hi,
is there a way and example for good API / SDK use to login a user from an external code without redirect to xenforo installation?

I have seen and tested the sdk like this one https://xenforo.com/community/resources/xenforo-sdk.2790/ but it seems outdated..
I also tested the iframe with src = xenforo login url

but it does not work even if I am extending the XEN login's method completeLogin..
So, the options are probably just to use the API or any fresh SDK?
Any examples and suggestions are welcome. Thanks
