New member here, so I'm just learning and have very basic technical knowledge!

Is there a way that I can restrict a notice to only appear on the forum front page and not on every page?

Thank you for your help. :)

Thank you for your reply sbj, but as I am completely technically challenged, I need more specific details if possible.

I'm looking in the forum_list template and can't see any mention of Notice.

No problem.

It is much easer than going to edit the forum_list template.

Just go to the admin area (ACP).

Then on left side go to Communication->Notices

Click on Notices and then you will see all of your notices. Pick one notice you want to appear on the front page and click on it.

Then click on Page criteria.

Scroll down to the bottom. There you put forum_list in the content template criteria (the screenshot from my 1st reply). That's it.

You can do this for every notice. You can also put other template names (such as forum_list) if you wish the specific notice appear on a specific place (such as for the registration template which would be register_form). I hope my instructions are clear, if not, just ask again.

BRILLIANT! Easy as! Thank you so much, I appreciate your help. You know, I didn't even see those options at the top of the page.............lesson learned, LOOK!!:)

Just a thought..........what would I need to add in the content template critieria if I just wanted a notice to show on the gallery home page?
I don't have te XF Media Gallery, but it should be xfmg_media_index.

Instead of handing you fishes, I can teach you how to fish :).

Just go to the page you want the notice appear in. Right click with your mouse and click on "show page source text".

Then you will see bunch of html codes.

Find the "body data-template" and you will see the name of the template you are on right now. This one would be for the index page of the Media Gallery as you see.

THANK YOU! I'm just coming to XenForo from VBulletin 5 and Photopost. I'm absolutely loving what I'm seeing, so much more user friendly, especially in the admin. And Photopost was basically dead in the water, so to speak!

I can't comment on vB5 or on Photopost or on XFMG, but I can tell you that XF is a great software. Sometimes it may have its limit but overall it makes it up with a great customer support both from officials and the community and the easy use of the software. Feel free to ask whatever comes to your mind (or use the search to get an answer much quicker :)).

I'm very pleased that you answered, so thank you again. Getting an answer on the VBulletin forums was rare indeed!

BTW, easy way to find the template, copy this into the URL filed at top of your browser (I have it as a bookmark)

Code:
javascript:(function(){XF.flashMessage($('html').data('template'),%2012000)}())
