XF 2.0 Question about the size of image attachements

So Xenforo has the wonderful function that it automatically calculates images smaller, down to the previously entered settings for image size in attachements.

There I have the following setting :

Maximum file size for attachments: 500kb
Maximum image size: 1200px wide 900px high

But now I just do not understand, why xenforo calculates some images without any problems, but for others the upload is refused because "file too big"

Just happened to me again ...
Then I did some tests with a few relatively large images (all jpg).

Image 1: Size 8,24 MB, 300dpi, 4592 x 2737 px ... uploaded
Image 2: Size 6,53 MB, 300 dpi, 5616 x 3744 px .... rejected because too big
Image 3: Size 6,35 MB, 300dpi, 5131 x 3402 px ... uploaded
Image 4: Size 14.5 MB, 300dpi, 6783 x 4912 px .... rejected because too big
Image 5: Size 9,17 MB, 300 dpi, 5104 x 3744 px ... uploaded
Image 6: Size 15.2 MB, 300dpi, 5184 x 3456 px ... uploaded
Image 7: Size 15.3 MB, 300dpi, 7006 x 4676 px .... rejected because too big

So ... I would say it is not the MB.
Must be the pixel size ...

Does anyone here knows the maximum dimensions which xenforo can handle?
I would like to be able to give a correct answer to our users when they ask why their image file is sometimes too big and sometimes not

Yes... this is about the settings for desired maximum file size... but does not really answer my question

Does anyone here knows the maximum dimensions which xenforo can handle?

20,000,000 pixels is the max default that XenForo will resize. However this can be overridden. See here for details:
