XF 2.2 Push notification failure: cURL error 28

Hello, I started getting this error this morning. I've never encountered this error before.
This error appears in the admin panel when members like or message content in their admin account.
And liking or sending messages takes a very long time (7-10 seconds).

As a workaround, you can simply go to Setup > Options > User alerts and notifications > Enable push notifications and disable it to get rid of the issue.

Hopefully, this helps others, because it’s a really frustrating bug to deal with.

This issue only affected my admin account because of using the forum app from the iPhone home screen.
I think the timeout error started happening due to receiving too many notifications.
If anyone has a more solid fix, please share. For now, I removed the forum app from my iPhone home screen to prevent the problem from continuing.

Hopefully, this helps others, because it’s a really frustrating bug to deal with.

It's not really a bug, it's a connection issue between your server and the service for push notifications.
You'll have to investigate why your server cannot communicate with the target system.

It could be a temporary issue with the target service or a temporary pathing issue causing the timeout.

The company I rented the server (VDS) from made the necessary arrangements, but the result is the same.

It's still going to be a communication issue between your server and the target host. We're not seeing any issues across a number of sites. We had one site with 1 error with same issue, back in May. @Chris D addressed this in a comment before.

Sorry, I was referring to the curl errors for push notifications in Chris' comment (first part). The sitemap function was a separate error he was replying to in the OP of that thread. (nothing to do with the connection error in your case)
