XF 1.2 Problem with Search

There seems to be a problem with my search. I'm not sure how long it;s been going on for. I've just noticed it.

When i search for a word. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt.

For example if i search the word. "Pizza" and press Search

The search progress bar comes up it stays for about 10 seconds to as long as 30 seconds


and then it stops and nothing happens. Doesnt give me a no results words or error. It often happens. It's slow. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt.

What would be the reason?
I have over 1 millions posts. Would this be a reason?

Should i get that elastic search? I bought it a long time ago but i heard it uses more resources. So i never installed it and i don't know how.

But i don't know what to do about the first problem. It's really annoying

At one million posts, I would definitely recommend Elastic Search. If you don't really know how to install/configure it I'm sure either @Slavik or @MattW (or several others - those were two off the top of my head) would/could for a very reasonable cost.

Is it possible that it could be another problem? That i could check out first.

Check your server log (Apache/nginx/etc), check your mysql error/slow logs, php log for any errors is the first place to look.

^^ This. 30 seconds sounds like a timeout, either with MySQL or PHP.

Thank You. I contacted Slavik. And he installed the elastic search for me at a reasonable price.

It works super fast now. I guess the old search couldnt handle it or something. But no problems now. I'm happy.
