I have the idea of turning a sub forum into a premium forum.
How do I set so that only paying members can access to it?
I understand I have to create a group, but what about the link to the payment to be added to it?

Another thing comes to mind. You are setup at PayPal I'm assuming. IPN is allowed?

My mistake. I was referring to this
"Display in the node list If unselected, users will not see this node in the list. However, if the URL is known, it will still be accessible."

Where this is what you're saying is true.
"Private node If selected, users will only be able to view this node if they are explicitly granted permissions."

got it sorted by putting 1 year, but weird it won't take 365 days and asked me to put 255 which still didn't take. Bug?

Not quite. Now you need to set permissions so that only paid members can access that forum. Best to read or reread the manual https://xenforo.com/xf2-docs/manual/groups-permissions/#how-permissions-are-applied

You have also sorts of options, depending of what you're offering. In my case I allow users to view the forum and thumbnails but the must upgrade to see or download the full image.

There are two methods.

1) set usergroup permissions
2) set node permissions

I've used a combination of both on my forum.

So to summarize, I want the users to pay 50$ a year to become premium members and have special features on the forum

Can you explain the steps I need to take?

Set the reduced base permissions for the Registered user group.

Create a new Premium user group with the enhanced permissions.

Create a user upgrade which assigns members to the Premium user group.
