You can see the cursor in the image thumbnail insertion area.
Overall pressing the delete button or the enter button when typing a message changes the focus to the image in a weird way.

The cursor doing crazy stuff, unfortunately, is just iOS being absolutely rubbish at doing anything in terms of tracking the correct cursor position and focusing on it. This can happen in standard HTML5 form controls, so there's nothing we can impact here.
There is an outstanding Froala bug which will aim to improve the behaviour of the editor on iOS when it has embedded images within it, which I think might be roughly what you're describing here as the "changes the focus ... in a weird way" point. You can track that bug here:
