"Thanks!" is less than 50 chars... and instead of character limit, how about word limit? More efficient I guess...As stated, it weeds out spammy reviews or short "Thanks!" reviews that add nothing constructive of the sort.

Perhaps, maybe, just maybe, a 250 character review should only be applied for ratings of 3 stars or less? If someone feels strongly enough to rate an add-on low, then they have enough words to justify it.
The majority of the <150 letter reviews were of little to no use to anyone looking to use the addon. 10 people saying "good addon" is less useful than one person providing something more quality.
Brogan speaks for XenForo and these words are very clear, there will be no decrease in the number of characters. It won't be reduced further.
If you are going to say "buggy" then have the decency to say "I found a bug when doing this or that". Real simple. Reviews shouldn't be done by lazy people. Why not give a full description in the add-on discussion, so that it can be discussed and replied, confirmed, etc. Bug reports don't belong in reviews. Many add-on authors don't even want them in XF add-on discussion.
If you are going to discuss it, then the thread is where it goes.. we are talking about reviewing it.What if there's no bug, what if there's nothing to add for simple add-ons? I would rather discuss about the bug in the support forum/thread than rant about it in the reviews section.
Perhaps if enough people come forward and object there may be a reversal of that decision. never say "never"Brogan speaks for XenForo and these words are very clear, there will be no decrease in the number of characters.
Why try to discuss something then it would seem that the rules are already clearly defined?
It weeds out spammy or short reviews that add nothing constructive. How is just saying "thanks!" saying anything about the add-on?
It was already reduced twice, and people still aren't happy with it. Doesn't surprise me.
People would still complain about it.
Or the thread could get locked... or the user(s) could get thread banned... or the user(s) could get banned.... or the user(s) could have their use of the license revoked. Never say never.Perhaps if enough people come forward and object there may be a reversal of that decision. never say "never"![]()
I always wanted to see thread ban in actionor the user(s) could get thread banned...
That's exactly what I thinkI'd like to have a limit at about 50 chars. For people that don't speak english fluently is more difficult to write a review adding more words just to overcome the limit. I've stopped to leave positive reviews since most of the times I'm not able to find all the necessary words to simply state that this addon is very good.
It has already been reduced from 250 to 200 and now 150.
It won't be reduced further.
Any reviews which attempt to bypass the minimum character count will be removed.
