Add-on Periodically Message Users?

XF already gives you the opportunity to message users on registration. What I’m looking for is the ability to periodically message users under certain circumstances, e.g. 7 days after registration, but no paid upgrade taken out.

I seem to remember VB had something like this set up around a cron job… wonder whether there might be anything similar for XF2?

You can sorta do what you're requesting, with limitations.

You can email (not create a conversation with) users based on that criteria, but you'll need to manually run the criteria once a day. You can do that via the Email Users functionality. There's no automatic way to do it, I believe.

It might require custom development if I'm correct on that.

Thanks, Robust. It's kind of a no-brainer to want to schedule regular communications (email + conversations) with members based on a rule set; hopefully some kind developer may pick this up...?

Thx Ozzy, looks interesting. Would be great to have (a) option to choose email, conversation or alert; and (b) to automate procedure according to rules, e.g. IF join date > 7 days AND not in paid upgrade usergroup THEN nag...
