We have many PDFs which contain newsletters from many years past.

Is there a way of performing an OCR on the PDF, so the contents then shows up in Xenforo's search results?

There is nothing built in which will do that.

You would have to copy and paste the contents of the pdf to the resource body.

OK, what about copying the text from the PDF, and then having it somehow 'hidden' in the resource body?

Would that work, or am I talking nonsense?

You could do that with the spoiler bb code.

Index attached PDFs and make them searchable

As per the title, extract the contents of PDFs (and other file formats) to make them searchable. Here is a use case for such a feature.

Is there a word count limit when doing this? I have numerous texts that are 5,000 words long. Too long for forum posts.

All post content is indexed - there's no limit.

Resource Manager by XF is a good add-on to manage such data, without having to use a PDF.
