XF 1.5 path to default avatars is missing

Trying to change user default avatars

but when i go to /styles/default/xenforo/avatars/
the page is blank....

we have 3 styles templets

any help would be awesome

If you mean it's blank when accessing via browser, that is expected.

You would need to use an FTP application to access that directory.

You can just copy the avatars from the default style to each custom style directory.
If they don't exist in the default style, download a new copy from your customer account and extract them from there.
