with hiding categories, you still have a category, right?
Maybe it can be the category 0, that is just one level higher?
Because somehow the index is this category higher than the cats in level 0.
But we were never allowed to use it.
Another way would be to have cat 1 and the rest in the next level, but then the cats should be shown from catlevel1 while the level 0 is shown on the index. This way, there is less to change, only the view of the cats needs a change. (=Idea for a new add-on for the RM also)
Meanwhile, I have played a little bit with the add-on;
I have added icons, I have added the new functions, but without cats.
I just try out, what is the best way for which content.
If you have a huge board, it makes sense to count votes for quotes, weekly, monthly; but for the most boards this makes no sense. They need monthly, yearly, for example.
The voting is somehow nice, I guess such a voting should be an add-on for the add-on; then it can be mod a) like now b) with numbers from x to y, instead +1/-1 c) make a game and allow everyone to change the position of to items.
Currently, I fight with different ways to open the forms.
I don't collect quotes; I collect some different data, where many updates are needed.
So, I try to have fast overlay edits, quick-edits and normal edits, edits for just some fields from many.
With all this and around 2000 datasets imported manually in the last days, I have different views to the world now.
Why we need so many clicks in Xenforo?
Because one single user normally doesn't change many things, so we let him click and click and click. And nobody thinks about how many clicks are needed daily to work with Xenforo because it is not the click of one person.
I think this is wrong, really wrong! Xenforo should finally care to make the life of everyone easier and increase the huge number of clicks for all.
One idea to make the world easier is to have moveable buttons or just changing buttons.
A post is moderated? Then show [moderated]; the post is not moderated, then show [moderate?]
One click, finished with work!
Why do I tell you this? Because you are maybe the first one to start with a new way of behaviour in Xenforo. Let's stop all these clicks to edit, to change, to save. There are dozens of new add-ons.
Maybe you aim to start with this and add something for moderate quotes for example, please.
BTW: We have these changeable links at least in two places: follow/unfollow and moderate_replys, they should be everywhere and should be itself the sign, what we have.
Another example just to complete it: I hate soft deleted posts like crazy. They need to be clicked to be seen, than clicked to be deleted finally. It is so anoying.
Instead of this: a red link [undelete me!] - and I know it is soft deleted, one click to bring it back, one click to soft-delete.
