Ozzy47 updated [OzzModz] Game Thread Starter with a new update entry:

2.2.0 Beta

This is a beta release, take a full backup before installing on a production site.
  • General code refactor
  • Minimal XF version changed to 2.2
  • XF 2.3 support
  • Removed XenPorta support
  • [BREAKING] Add-on was integrated with ForumType and ThreadType system (XF2.2+).
  • "TGDb thread forums" add-on option was removed (all previously selected forums in this option will be automatically converted to "Game forum" type).
  • "Allow mixed content" option was deleted (now can be...

I've not really got any images using the default layout but here's some screenshots that will give an idea of the new features

This is the only unmodified thread view layout I have - it shows the new ratings, statistic icons and buttons

The rest of the screenshots are all from my modified layout but it should give some sort of idea of the layout (other than the thread list because I've completely reworked that so it is comparable to my other thread starter addon layouts)

There's a new menu option in the visitor panel "Your Games", which then shows the games you like, play, own (collated via the buttons in the game thread)

My modified thread list layout...

A massive part of this update for me was to have the ability to manually add games yourself instead of relying on thegamesdb.net and it works brilliantly.

I'm going to eventually update, but for now, I'd like to know if TGDb is more in sync with TVDb, etc.

In the other 3 thread starters, you leave the title blank, write a message that can be in the thread or alternatively posted as a reply to leave the thread clean of aggregated content, and fill in what looks like a custom thread field with the DB link.

In contrast, the previous version (or still does) makes you enter the game DB URL as a title and the message is posted with the box cover as a thread, which doesn't look like that in your screenshots.

In other words, how is the interface for adding games now? Same with URL as title? Or more aligned with the other 3 thread starters, as this appears with the thread view now.

You can still add games the old way by entering the url from TGDb, my screenshot is just to show the options for manually adding a game.

I meant how users actually post the thread.

This is current Game DB:

Vice the other three: Music, Movies, Television.

Only Game DB has the URL in the thread title, making it the redheaded stepchild of the 4 if you will.

Do we have different add ons or did I configure mine differently? 🤔

In my game version you add the URL as the thread title.
It has changed in the new update.

All 4 thread starter addons work that way now (also with the Game and Music thread starters you also have the option to manually add data).

Thanks. Having them all work the same was one of my pet peeves (if you have all 4 then it's kind of odd that one works differently).

Thank you for supporting it. Throw me your PayPal and I'll send you a cup of coffee as I didn't think to ever even ask if they could change stuff in their add ons for sale, rather extend it (a 2nd add on to support the 1st, or in this case, a new add on to make TGDb look and feel like the other 3) to make it natively feel like the other 3, which was on my to-do list.

Not sure if something went wrong with my upgrade or I'm missing a step, but RE: the folder structure change for the images - they didn't move automatically. I'm currently updating one by one.. is there an easier way?

--EDIT--
I also note that the sliders aren't set up with the version specific code that is present in the Movie and TV sliders, so slider.min is being loaded on XF 2.3 instead of slider_xf23.min causing errors.

I'm also not getting the gameStats on the thread list (but it shows on thread view / owned games / games played) - although I see it present on @Gemma's screenshot.

To make it more like the TV and Movie thread starter add-ons it would be great if new games could be added without an initial reply being posted. Currently it's re-posting the game description.

--EDIT--
The game description text is also being added without any line breaks.

This option would be nice to have in TGDb.

On upgrade, it would have to "split" the thread where the game info is the thread and create a new post that has the same post date as thread creation and the order should be the newly created message first.

The CSS of .gameContainer should be similar to TV/movies, etc., so that it can be displayed easier on mobile without too many edits.
