Banned User Conversation Access
Allow banned users to access the conversations area of the site. Whether or not a user can send/receive conversations is still controlled by their normal user permissions.

can they edit/delete post ban or is it read only? assuming it uses the pre-existing settings, i think restriction the options is ideal especially if there are messages that pose potential usage in an internal investigation.

They can edit the same as XF lets a user edit natively. They can leave a conversation. They can reply to existing conversations. They can not invite more users nor start new conversations.

Option to only see latest conversation (warning that lead to ban).

At the moment you also have to disable creating and answering conversations with permissions by putting banned members in a group.
