Pages allow template syntax and conditionals so I was a little suprised I could not over-ride the page title using <xen:title>

As I understand it, <xen:title>Changes the <title> tag in the head area. I dont want the <title> to equal the H1 element in every single case.

I should imagine this would be an easy (relatively) fix and allow for a little more flexibility.

    Use <xen:title /> for <title /> and <xen:h1 /> for the page's <h1 />

Can someone please remove the 'implemented' prefix from this thread?
It is not possible to override the <xen:title> in a 'page node' (try it). Since nodes use the template system and allow full(?) template syntax then this should be possible.

Perhaps you mean it is implemented in 1.2? Please clarify.
