Option to auto-announce Gallery updates in a forum thread

My members are used to discussing new pics they post in a thread (in my case collection pictures). Now with the Media Gallery, they appreciate the way in which they can have everything stored prominently in one place and comments for each individual picture are great, but some seem to feel that unless people are actively following their Galleries, new additions will slip under the radar.

So for want of a more elegant solution, it would be great if gallery users could specify a topic to auto-announce any updates they do with a link to their particular gallery.

that is the issue with the current "Media Gallery":

- it is using "Comments" instead of "Forum-Threads" and "Forum Posts"
- the "Media Gallery" is merely a "stand-alone"-feature which is not integrated with the Forums


As it is structured currently, the photos are not spurring any "Discussion" (there are not many "Comments" on Photos) and there are also not many "Likes" given to Photos.
Also, there are not many photos being uploaded into the "Media Gallery".


IMHO, the "Media Gallery" needs to be more tightly integrated into the "Forums" in order to make it fly.
