XF 1.5 Optimum size for forum title graphic

I am starting up a new forum and having a logo designed by a graphic designer friend. Is there anything I need to know about the size or proportions of the image I need?

What is the maximum width & height I can go before it messes with responsibility for example...

There are no limits other than practical ones related to dimensions (taking up a significant portion of the screen) and file size (which affects loading time).
