I was watching an ep of a pretty damn good bbc doc series and they had a segment where a blind man was scaling a mountain. His retinas had detached and a piece of hardware allows him to see via impulses sent to his tounge. The device called Brainport Vision has truly amazed me and I am so happy to see tech like this being developed for a solid cause. You can see the device in action on Season 1 episode 3 of BBC's "Inside the Human Body" or view the company site @ http://vision.wicab.com/technology/#Who could benefit from the BrainPort vision device?
I just wanted to post this awesome piece of tech before I forget about it. I wonder if they plan on building a device to help with memory?
