XF 2.2 Nodes sometimes bolded but threads never are?

I'm hoping someone can paste the default code for this. I'm having an issue where randomly, some of the forums (on the main forum page) are bolded. I don't want this, and I've never seen it on forums I'm a member of.

Additionally, threads are never bold. This seems like a malfunction. IIRC a user is supposed to see bolded threads, until they click on that thread.

Could this be browser related? The randomly bolded nodes issue isn't happening on Firefox. But it's happening on Chrome and Safari (iOS)

I've been testing this out using a few different created user accounts. So hopefully what I'm seeing is accurate. Could browser cookies affect this?

you mean unread forums are bold, but they should not be?

Yeah its the forums that appear on the main page, aka the main forums list. They are randomly bold, and they should never be bold. I've been using Xenforo for a very long time (as a member of boards) and I have never seen that. I would know because I relied on threads being bold to tell me if I had clicked on them, and I would have noticed if the forum node itself was bold. I would have been curious as to why that was happening.

And I think it will throw my users off too. It's odd that it won't happen on Firefox, but it happens on Chrome and iOS. I've tried it on 3 different devices. My main desktop PC, my Android phone, and the wife's Iphone. The forum nodes are randomly bold on Chrome and on iOS.

My developer tells me that he can turn it off, but it will turn off thread bolding as well. So then users wouldn't have an easy means to tell which threads they had already clicked on. This seems like a bug to me.

It means there are unread posts (which you may not be aware of if they are many pages deep). You can clear this by clicking mark all read.

Thanks that does offer a little insight.

But does doing that unbold all of the threads inside the forums? I'm also having an issue where no thread is ever bold. Even if I create a new user and login on a new device using a different browser, the threads are not bold.

Something isn't right, it would seem.

Ai says do this:

  • Check the style settings for any overrides affecting link weight.
  • Ensure that the "Mark forums read" functionality is configured correctly.
  • Clear caches and refresh pages to see if changes take effect.

If you can no longer get support from the developer, I actually advise you to find someone who can take over or change your style, because you could encounter more serious problems with new versions of XF, especially with XF 3.0...

I will be sticking with version 2.2 for several years. I am looking for a new developer, hopefully I can find one.
