New TV Time

I've decided, before the VAT goes up here in the UK, that I'm going to treat myself to a New TV.

Probably a very stupid thing to do as it is very much an impulse purchase so I don't have much time to do a lot of research on the matter.

I've a load of Argos vouchers which means that limits the retailer some what so that it effectively saves me some more money and have pretty much narrowed it down to 3 options.

It'll be my first HD purchase and the only other HD device I currently have is my PS3, so..... anybody have any pursuasive arguements to push my in one direction or the other (or any other recommendations to look at just to confuse the issue even more?)?

Thanks!

I'm partial to LG, but probably only because my first cell phone was an LG, and my fridge is an LG.
Go for it!

If you're into gaming, get the LG 32LD450 (or any larger size - I believe the 42" version is very cheap in Asda atm) - it's got one of the lowest input lags of any TV on the market. Plus it's generally just awesome.

I would never buy a television made by a company that also makes refrigerators (AKA a "reefer," "baconkeeper," "chillytown," "radish cabinet," "ice box" or "wombat stiffer" for those of you from other countries), but that's just me. I have a frame on the wall that I draw pictures in and act out the different scenes. So I am, in effect, a television producer. Which makes me a de facto expert on television and television apparatus. Though unfortunately, I am contractually obligated to avoid answering any direct questions about such apparatus, so please strike this from the permanent record. Or I could just not click "Post Reply"...

Fair enough mjp ;)

After much decision making and various bits of research, I decided to go for the Sony.

So off to town I go today - cheers Peggy and Darkimmortal :) (I was originally just going to get a 26" tv, but was then convinced to get 32", no room for a 42" :()

I've got a 32" HD Sony Bravia (from the top end of the range - because the missus wouldn't let me get a BIG telly, so I went for the best 32" I could get ... lol).

Great picture and sound, and works flawlessly with my PS3, so I'm sure you'll be more than happy with your choice. :)

Cheers,
Shaun :D

Hey, you're preaching to the choir, sister.

I'm about to jump into my LG car and drive to work where I'll be sitting in my LG chair and having some LG pasta for lunch. At work I use my LG computer to requisition LG bombs for American troops in Afghanistan (who wear, for the record, LG body armor and LG sunglasses - okay, some of them wear Unilever sunglasses or Dolce & Gabbana, but most are LG).

I'm with you. The only thing I haven't been able to warm up to are the LG wigs. There's something about them that just doesn't look right. I can't put my finger on it.
