I run a XenForo forum but didn't renew the license for 3 years.

It runs without problems but if I purchase an extension I see minimum MySql requirement is now 5.7 and I am running 5.6.33. So my question is will an upgrade run with that MySql version or not as often the requirement are not written in stone... Thanks

We don't test below the requirements and any issues you run into as a result of such an environment will be officially unsupported. Our recommendation will be to upgrade MySQL to at least 5.7 and then XenForo.

Thankyou for the answer. I will be better not to purchase an upgrade then and leave things be.

I have legacy software running on the server and I don't know how a MySql upgrade will affect it

I currently run XF 1.5.5 on MySQL 5.7 and PHP 5.6.
My hosting provider wants to upgrade MySQL to 8.0 and PHP to 8.2.
But I would like to keep XF 1.5.5. Will it run on MySQL 8.0 and PHP 8.2?

The latest stable MySQL version when XF 1.5.5 was released is probably a safe bet. I think this would be MySQL 5.7, which predates MySQL 8. The release notes of a later XF version, 1.5.22, suggest that it improved MySQL 8.0 compatibility issues from earlier versions so it may not work correctly with 1.5.5.
