mydomain.com and www.mydomain.com sessions

I noticed that if I'm logged on my site using mydomain.com and then I go to www.mydomain.com I'm not logged anymore (it's the same site). However if I go back to mydomain.com then I'm still logged in. Same thing happens in reverse I guess. Is this normal?
