moving sidebar to bottom?

My apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum.

Was wondering if it is possible -- even in theory -- to make the sidebar horizontal and put it beneath the forumlist or threads, just above the footer?

The rationale is that we have infinite screen real estate vertically (with scrolling), and are much more constrained horizontally, even with wide-screen displays.

Is there an add-on that can make this happen?

Yes, that would be possible with template HTML and CSS changes.
