XF 2.1 Move "What's new"

I saw on one forum that "What's new" was removed from the navigation bar and placed next to the envelope (conversations) and bell (alerts) as a lightning icon.

Is this doable without template modifications?

Quick turn-around on a free add-on (for now?) by @BassMan to accomplish this with seamless integration into a custom style as well.

If mobile users see the bolt and desktop users see the tab, for the best user experience across the board, I'd consider grabbing this add-on so that there's only one method to access the content before he throws it into a package.
