Fixed Moderators can set threads to noindex

Moderators with permission manageAnyThread can set threads to noindex.

This a pretty destructive operation, almost like soft-deleting a thread (which is guarded by its own permission).

Unlike soft-deleting threads though (where a deletion notice is shown and members will notice when threads are not longer available) there is no indication when a thread is set to noindex, only moderator log documents this so such actions might go unnoticed for a long time (until search engine traffics drops sigificantly).

This operation should therefore have its own permission.

I went checking and I didn't know that this i something new from 2.3. I agree fully with you.

I can’t find it. You’re sure it’s not an addon?

If it is there now it should only be admin as it’s not really to do with moderation.

Yes, I am 100% sure that this is a standard XenForo 2.3 feature.

It's frontend functionality so it basically needs to be a moderator function - but as pointed out this really should have it's own permission.

Never noticed that lurking under the edit thread box. Definitely should not be a moderator action unless they really are trained in SEO!

Great! Now we can allow those threads about religion and let spam bots create free content without hurting our SEO.

Thank you for reporting this issue, it has now been resolved. We are aiming to include any changes that have been made in a future XF release (2.3.1).

Change log:
Gate search engine indexing settings for threads behind their own permission
There may be a delay before changes are rolled out to the XenForo Community.
