Migrating MyBB to xenForo possible?

As i've seen, there are only 2 supported migration paths possible by default (xf2 and vb, at least the actual documentation says so).

But i've also seen there is an API which allows pretty much

If it is not possible directly to migrate from MyBB to xF, would it be worth a try to create the skeleton by hand and migrate the threads/posts by API?

You have to go through XF1, if you want to import from MyBB.

Install the latest version available for XF1, import, then upgrade to the latest XF2 version (2.1.1 right now).
