Migrating from vBulletin

#1
I'm planning on moving from vBulletin. I have two forums running both vBulletin 3.8.5 and 4.2.0. My 3.8.1 forum has a custom mod we'd like to migrate too. Basically it adds a separate movie collection lister database with which forum members can list their movie collections. It also adds a new home page. Both databases share the same login.

My question therfore is how similar are XF and vB? Will our mod need to be re-written for XF? You can see an example of the mod in action by following the link in my sig.

We already have our custom written add-ons, I just need to know if it will require much work in order to combine it with XF. We have our own coder who is willing to do this, we were just wondering how much of a difference there is between the two forums and how they work.

Not knowing the level of integration, a complete rewrite is most likely required. There is no shared system between XF and vBulletin besides the use of PHP & mySQL.

Would be your current best option for people to share their videos and photos. If that isn't to your liking, know that having something coded for XenForo is usually a lot easier than it was for vBulletin.

You're most centennially going to notice an improved speed load for your users and less overhead on your server resources, once you make the switch.
