XF 1.5 message template -- anchor text post ID without post- ?

Currently xenforo has the the #post-1234 post links.
I'm importing from a vbulletin which had #post1234

What is the correct variable in the message template to get just the post ID 1234 without the post-1234

I'm thinking an easy solution would be to add an extra <a name="post{postid}"></a>
right above the post-1234 anchor link...

From searching the forum, found https://xenforo.com/community/threads/get-current-post-id.118222/ (which was actually trying to get a browser parameter from the url I believe and so the opposite as what I was trying to do) but {$post.post_id} seems to actually work in the message template to give just the 1234 id of the message.

<a name="post{$post.post_id}"></a>
seems to work to support the vbulletin url redirection.
