XF 1.4 memcached problems when restoring from backup?

If a site has been running using memcached or another back end cache and the database and file system are restored from a backup, do you have to restart memcached?

Given that the state of the file system and database have changed, they are potentially inconsistent with the cache. Is this a problem?

I'm genuinely curious and hope to learn a bit about how back end caching works with XenForo.

Yes, it will remove old cached data. It's not a problem under normal operation.
