XF 1.4 Member user_id in quote bb

    I done a search and couldn't find anything about this...

    Why is the member user_id shown in the bb code when quoting in a post?

    I done a test and removed it before posting the quote and I couldn't see the difference.

    Am I missing something, is there any relevance to it being there?

    Because usernames aren't permanent. The ID is the sole identifier of a user.

    If someone is quoted, then changes their username, is it reflected in the quote attribution?

    I believe so. I know XF has a routine that runs to update usernames on changes, though I think it can be disabled because it is performance intensive on big boards.

    I would assume they get updated and must be why the user_id is included. Makes more sense now.
