[MC] Infinite Scroll

[MC] Infinite Scroll 1.0.3

No permission to download
Next version will have a user preference option to disable infinite scrolling globally, along with a user group permission. I will also include page links in the page divider.

I'm gonna hold off on this update though and see if any more issues pop up.

I also have a floating post reply button that is always visible on mobile.
i like the idea of that....would be nice to tie it in to the top/bottom nav buttons...just for thread_view of course tho 🤔

or even just sticky the reply button but how to keep it from scrolling off?

regards

I'm probably not going to add that in this add-on. I don't want it to get too crowded.

@BassMan already has a comprehensive add-on for it. It's what I'm using.

Matt C. updated [MC] Infinite Scroll with a new update entry:

1.0.0 Beta 5 released

  1. Added: Mobile scrolling distance option. I added mobile distance scrolling option to help counteract long sidebars below content.
  2. Added: User preference option to disable infinite scrolling. This user preference is enabled by default.
  3. Added: User group permission to use infinite scrolling.
Known Issues:
  1. AdSense does not work between posts. I'm currently working on getting an AdSense account set up to test this.
  2. Depending on your uBlock...

I'm disabling infinite scrolling for posts for my site until I can figure a better way to handle it, particularly when it comes to replying. XenForo just isn't designed for infinite scrolling so replying to threads with infinite scrolling is a bit wonky. I just have to take it back to the drawing board and figure out a better to handle it.

the float button doesnt satisfy you? some like accentuating the latest posts links and enlarging pagination can help...im wondering what issues you mean tho?

The main problem is that when replying to a thread, XF injects the new reply into the thread and if you resume infinite scrolling after that, it resumes loading the previous posts. I need to figure out a better way of handling that because XF injecting the new reply into the middle of the thread is not a good interface in my opinion.

I'm messing around with a floating reply editor similar to Flarum. I just gotta figure out how to handle what happens when a new reply is posted.

Hello. Wonderful add-on, thank you for your work!

Will infinite scroll also be added for the list of messages in DMs?

Not in the near future, but not ruling it out either. I'm still figuring out a better way to use infinite scrolling for posts.

For those affected, I cannot reliably add support for AdSense without getting the script itself blocked by ad blockers. For that reason, I won't be adding support for AdSense between threads and posts.

You can still display static HTML advertisements/banners, but AdSense or other ad providers will not work.

Also, will be adding support for whats new posts in the next update.

I am moving this add-on out of beta, since its stable now. I am still working on a better way to handle infinite scrolling in posts, but it's gonna take longer because I want to fundamentally change how posting works in the thread with infinite scrolling enabled, but it is working in it's current implementation.

I'll give this a try on our large forum in the next day or so - we've some threads, picture-heavy and also text-heavy, that run into hundreds of pages. It will be interesting to see how it works with them, also the feedback from the members

Hello. So there are no issues with this now, and it’s safe to enable the add-on?

I'm not gonna say there's absolutely no issues, but it's been stable for me and I haven't gotten anymore bug reports from anybody.

Infinite scrolling in posts works, I just don't like my current implimentation, specifically the behavior when replying to threads.

Try it out for yourself and see how you like it. If you don't like how posts are handled, turn off posts.
