Why would google be locating/indexing my forum with mail. subdirectory

Your mail. DNS A record must point to the same IP. Options would be either nulling port 443 if accessed by your mail address or set up a .htaccess redirect for anything not using www. to access your site redirects to www.

Confirmed it's DNS just open https://mail.recor****.org/ in a browser, it loads your index. I added *** to part of your domain to prevent indexing this thread for you.
