Looking for suggestions

I had a Xenforo site 12+ years ago and it seems a lot has changed in the add ons etc as far as looks and options.

I am looking to build an automotive community site with a special niche for racing. I am looking for some options to allow the site to have articles, events, classifieds, media, as well as the forum itself. What would be a good option to go with? I have searched up and down this forum but I am finding some options are either old and no updates, some sellers etc do not respond anymore, or they just look to be abandoned. Also it seems so odd to see what few options exist nobody bothers to rate the software etc.. the rating count is sad for anything. I figured it would make sense to find the most options from one developer to avoid any sort of compatibility issues.

Xenforo decided to frustrate users by pretending that future customers didn't need categories in the Resource Manager to help find relevant addons.

It was a ridiculous idea then and it has worsened over time.

vBulletin.org had categories.

That's not that big of a worry to be honest.

If you don't already have an audience willing to view your forum, users will stay on Facebook and never visit a site in 2025.
Also, try to use official components, because who knows how long unofficial components will be updated...

I'm over at one of Verticalscope's automotive forums, and they have a new tab in the user profile where we can add vehicles to our profile.



This is mainly textual, but allows users to upload an image. (Something I wouldn't particularly want, unless we could limit images to one per item.)



Here's the twist. I don't really want a garage, but a flexible feature where I could let users enter various parts of a "build" or "system" and optionally upload an image. (As an example, think of a computer build. A member could enter details about the motherboard, memory...

Media Gallery - official XF add-on

The Media Gallery is seriously lacking in functionality though. No batch editing of titles, no batch adding of tags. Or do a media search for someone's images. Once you find them and click on an image you would think you're now browsing the search results, right, but no, you are now out of the search results and browsing everyone's images. So you have to hit the backspace key a few times to get back to the search results. It's pretty bad.
