XF 2.2 Latest posts widget on wordpress side

I'm want to get the XF2.2 latest post widget on the WordPress side. WordPress site installed at root directory and forum is located in /forum directory.

I'm aware of Xpress already doing this job but I want to do it without its installation due to some theme limitation. Currently, I have created a widget on the WordPress site and thinking to fetch the latest posts from the XF via API and display there. Is there any other way to do it? If so, please let me know.

I want to show the latest posts of XF2.2 on the WordPress homepage. I have created a custom widget on the WordPress site and now want to fetch the latest post. What is the best way to do this? I need your suggestion here.
