I've got 2 ways to organize an event. Is there a third?

I'm just getting started and was asked by the owner to prepare for the opening event in May with a focus on the forum. Reference is in my signature. First node is one way and is pretty spread out and I don't really like it. Second node is more compact at the top level and opens up if you're interested. Is there a third way to organize for this event so I can present it to him and he can decide?

The subheadings are break out groups at the event.

Looking through my admin options at the Forums/Nodes page... a link forum needs a url, so that doesn't really apply. And a page, I don't know what a page is, but you need a url for it too. I guess I've got the two possibilities.

Note I re-organized from my first post in this thread. The first node is a category and uses one forum for the event and threads for each breakout group. Second node is a category with a forum for each breakout group. Users will have to start their own threads. These are likely to be brand new users, so I'm thinking the first one will work better.

I'll take it to the boss now.
