XF 1.2 Is there a way to convert сategory to a forum?

I've noticed that there is no RSS sign at the category and no option to follow it, i.e. to subscribe to updates - to updates of all forums in category. If it's impossible to add RSS and following options, how can I convert сategory to a forum?

No, node types can't be changed.

Ok I had this same question too about the nodes.
using this xen foro community as a example
http://xenforo.com/community/

would "Xen Foro Community" be a node
then "official forum" be a category
then "announcements" be a forum ?

Official Forums is a category: http://xenforo.com/community/#official-forums.1

Announcements is a forum: http://xenforo.com/community/forums/announcements/

They are both nodes.
A node can be a category, forum, page or link (forum).
