Is the starter Namecheap package fast enough to run XF?

Really? I used to use hostgator and my bro still use them after 5 years. He has a simple site though. I heard Namecheap was decent compared to Godaddy or Hostgator. What do you use?

Namecheap is fine for minor hosting and can be a great place for using as your registrar (I use NameSilo myself for that).
They aren't the best in the world, but they are acceptable. I've been hosting my wife's blog on one of their $9.99 intro shared hosting plans for the last year and have had no issues.

There ARE better choices out there though.

I have not heard anyone using Namecheap for web hosting of a forum.

I recommend GoDaddy.

I don't know where you live, but in Canada, for low cost hosting package, CrocWeb is damn good.

I recommend GoDaddy.

Why in the world would you ever recommend GoDaddy? They are one of the worst web hosts, especially when you have special requirements such as running forums.

NameCheap, GoDaddy, HostGator, OVH are all good. But I recommend A2Hosting is very good a hosting was by @Alex - A2Hosting

I did. I outgrew the smallest package but generally its fine. Support is great.

I wouldn't use namecheap or godaddy. I would go with @MattW to host your site, you can start off on shared service and upgrade as needed. Here is his site, https://mattwservices.co.uk
