As has been noted from some of the above, this is where being a "smaller" board owner REALLY has it's problems.
So - I run a forum - basically a "hobby" forum - completely non-profit. I actually personally pay for the hosting. Approx 400 members (2-300 "active"). Nice little community.
I went as far as to stick donations add-on onto the site, however never enabled it. Yes maybe my own fault, however i hate to be that begging type of person.
However - as i was saying - to be able to get smaller mods/apps coded is a virtual impossibility. Costs are way to high for a self-financed forum to be able to afford to have anything coded - if i decide to pick up a "pay" add-on i have to convince myself that it's something that will enhance the site since it's coming out of my own pocket.
Short of actually learning to code (The last stuff i coded was c++ around 20 years ago!), and finding the time amongst everything else to do that AND then build what is required, us small non-profit boards really have a hard time finding anything "custom" to be made - or indeed anyone willing to do it - we rely on the public scraps/offerings of the add-ons section here very much. Whilst I understand that others have to live, and I completely agree with the reasons given, we learn to "piggy back" from others as we need to to be able to survive.
And man, it can be really frustrating at times.
But on the upside - Thanks to all the developers out there. Because without you guys, we would all have rather "bland, boring and uneventful" forums out there (Well - we would have just a standard vanilla forum with no bells and whistles at all!)
