Install on existing server also used for vB 3.8?

Thanks!
I've created a folder within my public_html called XF. I uploaded the contents of the "upload" directory from my purchased XF to that folder: www.{mydomain}/public_html/XF
I now can't get the installer to run. Since the answer above was that it is fine to create a new folder for the installation, why is the installer not running at the URL www.{mydomain.com}/public_html/XF/install ?

I know I'm supposed to upload to the server root directory, but since I don't want to harm my vbulletin server, I was hoping to make a separate folder for XF and upload everything there and then run the installer. Any advice?

Thanks

Yeah, the XF (and the installer and everything else by extension) will work fine in any directory.

I noticed you're trying to access it at http://example.com/public_html/XF/install/, but typically the public_html directory is the root directory of your domain. Try http://example.com/XF/install/
