Improving SEO to compete with older forum competitor

I've looked at @Bob's Showcase one before and it seemed to be overkill for showcasing an aquarium. I can certainly see it as the "garage" that the sites use. I tried doing something similar with Xenforo's Media add-on but didn't really work well.

It comes down to how you use and configure it, as it can be as simple or complex as you make it. You can use it very much like you would Resource Manager, or you could go over the top and use it as a database for a game (which I have done in the past).

It allows for building better presentation for member projects, which is going to be one of the bigger draws to your site.

Thanks. I'm going to research it a bit more and see how I can imagine it working to showcase a member's aquarium.

I appreciate you caring enough to share your knowledge.

I'm not too familiar with what "technical seo" means. Can you elaborate?

Anyone with SEO experience that is current to today's search engines, specifically Google?

I am competing in a market that has very old forums that have all migrated to Xenforo. Most of these forums are 15+ years old. Their organic keyword numbers are in the thousands compared to my hundreds.

Other than waiting 15+ years to let Google marinate on my site and members to add thousands of posts, any suggestions on improving SEO and indexing of pages?

I'm specifically asking about on page SEO improvements and things I can do technically. I do realize that putting up great content that people want to read is the best formula. I'm working on that. Asking for other things to tweak.

I appreciate it!
My agencies do seo and my forum does very well.

Yes, you need content but you also need an internal linking structure. You also need back links, citations and Google stacks. Start with the internal linking.

Technical seo alone is not going to get anyone to the top of Google. No offense. They must have a great backlink profile and lots of activity.
