Icewind Insolent One - Requires that members answer a captcha to log in.

Members of your forum will need to answer a CAPTCHA before logging in. This is to help slow down brute force log-ins right off the bat. Members with the Stay logged in already checked, will obviously not need to.

To use this add-on, the Login Limit method under users options must be set to CAPTCHA. If it is set to block, this add-on is designed to work as if it was not installed (otherwise, no member could log in), until CAPTCHA is selected.

Only show captha after login fail.
This way it will not bother normal logins, but only users who need multiple login attempts.

Failed attempts is hard coded at 4, so to get around this I would have to add another query to check if their is at least one failed attempt to throw up the captcha. I'm not sure adding the query is worth the trade-off.

Definitely. I would certainly not want to bother thousands of users a month with an added captha. It would result in less logins. Less logins is more important than the added risk of brute force. And the added risk of brute force is extremely important.

Lawrence updated Icewind Insolent One with a new update entry:

Now Gluten Free

- added an option to allow one failed login attempt before a CAPTCHA is used.
Directly below: AdminCP->Options->User Options->Login Limit Method is the option Insolent One Allow one Failed Attempt. Check to allow for the one failed attempt.

- worked diligently to make this add-on the first XenForo add-on to be officially 100% gluten free.

To upgrade, upload the files and be sure to over-write the existing ones. Importing the XML is optional, it only bumps the version number.

TFA Check

If failed in attempts was not set to allow for one, the initial TFA screen would throw a too many attempts lock-out error.

Well... not any more, much to the chagrin of the Insolent One.

Read the ever-engrossing included readme file to update from a previous version, or installing for the first-est time ever.
