XF 2.2 How to update and extend search index?

Is there something like:

take the thread / resource / other with ID x and rebuild the serach index for this item?
Is there a good place to send some additionall infos with that, for example from custom_fields?

Probably i should watch for the tools/jobs in the admin-area, i guess.

I just came on here to ask a similar question. I'd like to know how to update the search index for specific content too, so that I can keep the date current so the content remains relevant in recent searches instead of falling off.
