XF 1.2 How to structure this link

In my vb installation I had a link in the navigation that gave members the ability to quickly search threads they've participated in. It was structured like this:

/forums/search.php?do=process&exactname=1&searchuser=Username

How would I go about structuring this type of link in XF? And also, would editing the navigation template to put this link in the Forum dropdown be the correct way to do this? I haven't yet messed with any template edits... trying to keep templates as stock as possible for now, as I know that's what has made upgrading vb such a pain in the past for my highly customized site.
