How to restrict Poll participation

We have some pretty big contests now and then and winners are usually decided by a poll. However last year members where using FB to recruit new users to skew the polls. So my question is....

Is there a quick code edit i could make so that no one without x amount of posts can participate in any poll? Im really trying to avoid creating usergroups outside of the default set.

Except you are setting the Vote on polls permission.

Or you can let everyone vote and then filter them later with a query:

Thanks Jake.. Im not fond of creating extra user groups.. I got stuck in this rut before and the user groups just got unmanageable over time. And the second solution is over my head. Actually thats the only reason i do not offer premium subscriptions anymore either. :/
Oh well it was worth a shot.
